This court has long been a major part of our federal judicial system. It gets the most attention by the citizens as it effects lower courts to certain point. Several people debate this point.
States Rights are often cited as the limit any federal agency may have in lower courts and law enforcement. Often the United States Supreme Court denies hearing cases brought by hundreds of citizens each year.
Often Americans feel the Supreme Court does not represent them. One way for the United States Supreme Court to represent citizens more is to have national elections for each Supreme Court Justice. This could be complicated as they could be nominated in the same way but have two or three candidates for each position up for election. Currently, most states have elections for their State Supreme Courts.
Elections are the main apparatus for democracy. Having terms is a means to reward or punish elected officials who rely on citizen feedback to know how to administer law, order and justice.
